The Garden Tomb, the place where Jesus was likely buried and rise from that grave was very beautiful and moving. The vegetation was varied, reminding me of the varied nationalities that worship God. Spring blooms were opening. Pinks, yellows, and whites made the garden soft and intimate. After stepping inside the tomb where Jesus was likely buried, we had a few moments to quietly reflect. And we went to the Place of the Skull where Jesus was crucified. It was a lovely and emotional start for our Israel experience.
Our next stop was the Garden of Gethsemane. Reading the prayer in the setting where Jesus prayed it was moving, to say the least.
Then we learned about and walked through King Hezekiah's Tunnels. This place was the water source for the city. Half the group went through the wet tunnel, and about half went through the dry tunnel. Thinking about the engineering minds needed to do this before modern technology is impressive.
Bethlehem was our last stop for the day. We saw the Church of the Nativity where legend holds is the spot where Jesus was born and where the manger was where Jesus lay.
We've covered so much today. Jesus' story. The most important "story" of all time. We are on our way back to our hotel and have much time to reflect together and individually. This land is full of people who love God. On Sunday mornings for the rest of our lives, it will be moving to reflect on these times and know that God is praised from all corners of the earth. Praise the Lord, amen and amen!
