From HUGer Tyler (by the way, we have returned to the Artemis): Hello parents! I couldn't think of a better way to end this trip than having this wonderful time of leisure to reflect on all of the amazing and profound things we've seen, all while spending some great quality time with each other, cherishing our last days here at HUG.
This morning, as we arrived in Heraklion, Crete, some of us decided to wake up early and head into town, doing things such as exploring Knossos Palace and seeing all of the reconstructed facades, or just exploring this Athens-like town and enjoying the local shopping and coffee shops. And then of course, some of us embraced the leisure side of things and caught up on sleep, taking advantage of all the perks and activities the cruise had to offer.
In the afternoon, we arrived at the islands of Santorini! After taking a tender boat to the bottom of the cliffs, we had an option that separated the adventurous from the not-so-adventurous. Some of us rode up on the cable car, while some of us traveled via donkey all the way up the stairs carved into the cliffs (Both were safe, no worries). Once we were up on the cliffs in the actual town of Thira, some of us split off and took a taxi into Oia (where many of the beautiful blue-domed churches are located). With beautiful views, fun people, and some sentimentality, Santorini and this trip in general will never be forgotten.
We'll see you soon parents! And I especially miss and am so excited to see my mom, dad, sister, and all my other family!
